Who we are

A child’s circumstances should never determine the limits of their future. We work with families, schools, communities, and partners to help reduce barriers to learning, strengthen inclusion, and create pathways towards independence and opportunity.

Partnership invitation

Meaningful change takes people working together. We welcome responsible partnerships with schools, community organizations, foundations, businesses, professionals, and individuals who share our commitment to education, disability inclusion, and sustainable livelihoods.

Elpida Rising Foundation grew from a commitment to respond to practical barriers that prevent children and vulnerable community members from accessing education, developing skills, and pursuing sustainable livelihoods. We seek to turn that commitment into practical, community-rooted action—working alongside families, schools, and partners rather than making promises we cannot verify.

Elpida Rising Foundation was founded by Lule Maurice, a journalist whose own opportunity to access education inspired him to support children facing educational barriers in rural Mubende District. Through his work, he witnessed how poverty, limited resources, and stigma against children with disabilities denied many children access to education, dignity, and equal opportunities. In 2023, he began personally supporting seven children by paying school fees, purchasing school uniforms and scholastic materials, visiting families, and engaging schools to seek bursaries, while developing the vision for a foundation that was legally registered in Uganda in 2026.

How we support children

In Term I of 2026, Elpida Rising Foundation Uganda supported 20 children through education assistance, achieving a reported 96% school attendance rate with no recorded dropouts during the term. By Term III of 2026, we had expanded our support to 50 children—a 150% increase in just two terms. Through assistance with school fees and other education-related costs, uniforms, learning materials, and meals, we are breaking barriers to education, strengthening school participation, and creating brighter opportunities for vulnerable children.

Behind every number is a child with a dream, a family with renewed hope, and a future worth investing in. At Elpida Rising Foundation Uganda, we are not simply supporting children to attend school; we are helping build a future where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

Schools and community partnerships

Elpida Rising Foundation Uganda collaborates with schools to promote access to inclusive, quality education for children from vulnerable backgrounds, including children with disabilities. Through engagement with school administrators and relevant stakeholders, we identify learners’ needs and support their educational participation and well-being.

While we value these partnerships, specific school names and identifying details are not published on our website to respect partner relationships and protect the privacy of the children we serve. Further information may be shared with prospective donors and partners, where appropriate and with the necessary permissions.

Our commitment to honest reporting

We will distinguish between completed activities, ongoing work, and future plans. We will not present targets as achievements or publish figures that we cannot substantiate. We respect the privacy and dignity of the children and community members we serve.
